City scrapes through first monsoon spell amid widespread waterlogging

Floodwater drained in most parts of the city by dawn, barring Perambur and Velachery. No rain-related fatalities or major accidents were reported; all 22 subway underpasses were cleared and reopened to traffic by 6 a.m. on Sunday, say GCC officials. Trees were uprooted in more than 10 places
